FC Tucson has launched the limited edition 'El Jefe' culture kit. The jersey is inspired by Tucson's scenic views and the local jaguar nicknamed 'El Jefe'. It was designed by our own supporter, Ramses Abud.
Abud stopped by the official team store to get a first look at the jersey.
"Being first-generation American, native to Southern Arizona and the Sonoran desert, it's the one thing that I can celebrate both from my Mexican and my American side," Abud said. "We share the Sonoran desert and in the Sonoran desert lies the jaguar."
The rare jaguar made national news when trail cameras captured images of it in January. The Arizona Game and Fish Department in Tucson confirmed the image and it was the same one that has appeared over the last five years. It is currently the only known wild jaguar in the United States and dubbed "El Jefe," Spanish for 'Boss.'
According to news reports, less than 10 male jaguars have been spotted in the U.S. since 1996.

The club is set to wear the kit on the field Saturday. It will be the only time the jersey will be worn.
The game-worn jerseys will be signed by the players and auctioned off in the week following the game.
Abud will be at the game, watching FC Tucson wear his design.
"It's kind of hard to put into words what it means to me, to watch my club that I've been representing and have them represent my logo, my design," said Abud.
FC Tucson are celebrating Southern Arizona Heritage this Saturday. They welcome North Texas SC to Kino North Stadium. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
"It's really special, it's really powerful. What a better way to continue this legacy of the jaguar, of the club," said Abud.
