The Jamaican international started playing in his youth with local side Boys’ Town before signing his first professional contract with the club in 2014. Shaw went on to play for Jamaican sides Tivoli Gardens and Portmore United before moving to Canada.
Shaw has been called up to the Jamaican National Team six times, making his debut in January 2018 against South Korea. He was on the game day roster for Jamaica’s friendly against Peru on Jan. 20.
“The skillset is certainly there and we wanted to make sure we got somebody with experience, ambition, who could cover ground, and who has a good personality,” said FC Tucson head coach Jon Pearlman, who pointed to Shaw’s international duty as a big positive. “Those kind of experiences are what we need for our team if we’re going to be a championship and playoff team.”
He is the 12th player on FC Tucson’s 2022 roster. He joins six returning starters from the 2021 playoff team, including midfielder João Delgado, and five new additions to the team.
