FC Tucson has a rare mid-week match, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
The club dispatched of the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Saturday behind goals from Louis Perez and newcomer Fernando Garcia, and will ride the momentum back to Kino North Stadium for a second go at 520 Day against the Richmond Kickers.
The original match on May 20 was postponed by a month because of COVID-19 protocols with the Kickers. All tickets originally purchased for the match are good for Wednesday’s makeup date, with kick off slated for 7 p.m. at Kino North Stadium. (BUY TICKETS)
It will be Richmond’s first game at Tucson since FC Tucson ended its season with back-to-back defeats last season.
To celebrate Tucson, the club will welcome Tucson Vice Mayor Lane Santa Cruz to present the USL League One ball before the match. Santa Cruz is a second-generation Tucsonan, born and raised in the Southside. She represents Ward 1, which covers Westside, Southside and Downtown.
FC Tucson secured home field in the first round of the 2021 USL League One playoffs with a 4-2 win at home against Richmond last October. The defeat also forced Richmond to spend the week in Arizona for a rematch, which was won 1-0 by FC Tucson.
