Gio Calixtro scored on a well-timed strike in the first half, but it wasn’t enough as FC Tucson ultimately fell to the Richmond Kickers, 3-1, on Saturday evening at City Stadium.
Franco Perez won the ball in the 28th minute and dribbled it into the box before laying it off for Calixtro, who delivered it into the top right corner of the net.
Unfortunately for FC Tucson (3-10-4, 13 points), Richmond tied up the game right before halftime on a goal from Ethan Vanacore-Decker.

- “It was a great strike. (Gio Calixtro) was good in training all week and he was good in warmups. He put himself in great position and he delivered.” – FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman
- “We were a bit unlucky in the equalizier. And then Terzaghi on the counder does what he does. The red card was disappointing; we were still creating chances in the match. Obviously, it was an incredibly disappointing result to end 1-3 and down a man.” – FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman
FC Tucson will continue its road trip on Wednesday, Aug. 17, when it travels to take on Northern Colorado Hailstorm. The club will return to celebrate Tucson’s birthday on Saturday, Aug. 20, against Greenville Triumph SC (BUY TICKETS) with post-match fireworks.
