Tucson, Arizona- Both FC Tucson teams took the pitch on Sunday with the Men on the road against the SoCal Eagles, and the Women at home against the El Paso Surf. In their final road match, the Men notched a critical 3-2 win over the SoCal Eagles, sweeping the series between the teams. The Women concluded their season against the El Paso Surf with a dominant 9-0 victory.
The FC Tucson Men started the match quickly with a goal from Luke Kawabe, his first of two tallies. The latter broke a second half 1-1 deadlock. Joao Neves would score a third goal which would be the difference as the men held onto a 3-2 victory. FC Tucson outscored the SoCal Eagles this season 9-2. With the playoffs just around the corner, FC Tucson holds their fate in their hands with a must win home match Tuesday against ASMG.
The FC Tucson Women finished their season at Kino taking on the El Paso Surf. The two teams previously met in the first week of the season, an FC Tucson 4-0 win. The match started off fast for FC Tucson as Milana Eyrich would score in the opening minutes to take an early 1-0 lead. From there, the floodgates were open. Vivien Villarreal scored her third goal in 2 matches to extend the lead to 2-0. Luz Duarte, Hannah Ramos, and Fiorela Miranda would all tally a goal, while Ashly Martinez finished the night off with a haul of 4 goals. Goalkeeper Izabella Holly was barely tested in the dominant 9-0 victory. FC Tucson outscored El Paso Surf 13-0 this season. The first season of the Roberto Garcia era would finalize at 5-3-2 and in 2nd place in the Desert Conference.
