Tucson, Arizona- FC Tucson avenged their early season road loss with a critical 2-0 victory over AMSG FC. With this victory, FC Tucson holds firmly onto 2nd place in the Southwest Conference of USL2, and they are in complete control of their playoff destiny.
James Jennings opened the scoring for Tucson in the 24th minute of the match. This was Jennings’ 3rd goal of the season and FC Tucson would go into the half with the 1-0 lead.
In the 86th minute, William Arnesen, rushing from the right side of the box, would blaze the ball to the left of the net to push the score to 2-0, and out of reach for AMSG.
The Men In Black’s defense stifled the AMSG offensive game plan, holding the visitors from California to just 5 shots on goal during the contest. FC Tucson Goalkeeper Alex Svetanoff recorded his 4th clean sheet of the season.
With one match left in the regular season, FC Tucson sits at 25 points in the Southwest Conference of USL2. With the win against AMSG, FC Tucson needs to either Win or Draw to clinch a playoff berth. FC Tucson can also clinch their playoff position if AMSG loses or draws any of their next two matches.
