For Immediate Release: TUCSON, Ariz. — FC Tucson will kick off its 2026 season on May 2nd with a powerful and emotional evening at Kino North Stadium, highlighted by the Kelly Pierce Tribute Match, followed by a men’s friendly as part of the club’s annual Cinco de Mayo Especial, presented by HJ3 Composite Technologies.
The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a special tribute match featuring FC Tucson Women vs. the Kelly Pierce All-Stars, a team composed of former teammates, players, and members of the Tucson soccer community whose lives were impacted by Kelly both on and off the field.
At halftime of the tribute match, FC Tucson will honor Pierce’s legacy with the retirement of her number 14 jersey.
Kelly Pierce was a captain and standout player for TSA and the FC Tucson Women from 2013–2018 before serving as head coach from 2019–2023. Beyond the club, Pierce made a lasting impact as head coach at Salpointe Catholic, where she led her teams to six 4A state championships in eight years. Her passion for the game, leadership, and commitment to her players left a legacy that extends far beyond the pitch.
Following the tribute match, FC Tucson will host a men’s friendly match against Selección Tucson. Prior to kickoff of this match, the club will hold a moment of silence in remembrance of former head coach John Galas, who passed away recently. Galas served as head coach during the club’s professional era in 2020 and was instrumental in FC Tucson’s early development in the early 2010’s.
“FC Tucson is proud to honor two individuals who played such meaningful roles in shaping our club and our community,” said FC Tucson President Jon Pearlman. “Kelly and John both left lasting legacies that continue to inspire players, coaches, and fans throughout Tucson and beyond.”
In addition to the on-field action, the evening will serve as FC Tucson’s annual Cinco de Mayo Especial, featuring themed food and drink specials, a festive matchday atmosphere, and a post-match fireworks show to close out the night.
Fans can enjoy both matches and the fireworks show with a single ticket, available now at fctucson.com.
FC Tucson encourages the community to come together for a memorable evening of soccer, celebration, and remembrance as the club honors two of its most impactful figures and kicks off the 2026 season in front of its home fans.
