FC Tucson Forward Devyn Jambga Named USL League One Player Of The Week

Defender Kody Wakasa Joins Teammate on Team of the Week.

TUCSON (May 21, 2019) — FC Tucson forward Devyn Jambga was named the USL League One Player of the Week for Week 9 of the 2019 USL League One season the league announced today. Defender Kody Wakasa was also named to the USL League One Team of the Week.

On Saturday evening, Jambga secured the club’s second brace of this season with goals scored in both the 67th and 75th minute en route to a 4-0 victory over Chattanooga Red Wolves SC at Kino North Stadium.

Jambga now leads FC Tucson in goals scored (3) and ranks second in shots (9). He first entered the scoring column on April 28th during the club’s 2-0 home win over Lansing Ignite FC and is the first player to score in two consecutive home matches this season.

Wakasa also had an exceptional performance against the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. He netted his first goal of the season in the 35th minute. Wakasa also won 6 of 8 duels, recorded eight recoveries and made two interceptions as the club registered its second clean sheet this season.

FC Tucson will be back in action on Friday, May 24th when the Men in Black travel to North York, Ontario, Canada, to face-off against Toronto FC II. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM MST. The match will be streamed lived via ESPN+.
