A debutant goalscorer, two goals by a man with a hot foot, and some scintillating saves from an in-form keeper helped FC Tucson dominate a 3-0 result over Fort Lauderdale CF at Kino North Stadium, and run its undefeated streak to five in a row.
FC Tucson started the match on the front foot and rarely ever set back en route to picking up their fourth win in the last five matches.
In the 19th minute, a flash header by Luca Mastrantonio gave FC Tucson a 1-0 lead with his first professional goal.
“It feels great,” Mastrantonio said. “We’ve really been on a great roll.”
This is the club's longest unbeaten streak since it finished the 2018 PDL season with four straight ties and then two wins in its final six matches.
FC Tucson is 8-8-5 (29 points) and fourth in USL League One, one point behind the Greenville Triumph.
Fort Lauderdale dropped to 7-10-5 (26 points) and seventh.

In the second half, it was Deri Corfe’s turn to show off his skills. In the 74th minute, he took a pass from Mohamed Kone and right-footed home a shot to make it 2-0.
The Englishman made it two on the night and three in the last four matches when finished off a Manu Ferriol pass.
“We have 18 guys when they are right that are all good enough to be starters and impact players in this league,” FC Tucson coach Jon Pearlman said.
Throughout the match, the FC Tucson defense limited Fort Lauderdale’s chances and when the lads from Florida put it on goal, keeper Wallis Lapsley made a trio of outstanding saves.
FC Tucson will next face Greenville Triumph SC in South Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 19. Kick off is set for 4 p.m. (ESPN+).
