TUCSON (February,6 2019) -- FC Tucson announced today it had signed international defender Gilbert Oord for the 2019 USL League One season pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be released.
“I am very thankful for this opportunity and look forward to a successful season in Tucson.”
Oord spent the last eight seasons competing for AVV Zeeburgia, a club in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He played virtually every position for AVV Zeeburgia before solidifying himself as one of the best defenders on the team.
Oord was recognized by USL Championship side Phoenix Rising FC head coach Rick Schantz at an open tryout in late January. He was a standout amongst a host of Rising FC trialists and participated in a friendly against MLS side Sporting Kansas City.
With the addition of Oord, FC Tucson’s roster now stands at 11 players for the 2019 USL League One season.
