
TUCSON (May 18, 2019) — FC Tucson announced today it had signed midfielder Erik Virgen for the 2019 USL League One season pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be released.
A native of Tucson, AZ, “Gallo” is a product of the FC Tucson youth program. Virgen eventually moved on to the Real Salt Lake Development Academy where he was named a captain.
The 19-year-old midfielder also competed with both the U15 and U18 U.S. YNT and was named Generation Adidas Cup MVP in 2014.
Virgen played one year collegiately for the New Mexico Lobos of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). As a true freshman in 2018, he registered 17 appearances and ten starts in 1,233 minutes played.
With the addition of Virgen, FC Tucson’s roster now stands at 22 players for the 2019 USL League One season.
