FC Tucson will make its first trip to Frisco, TX this season to square up against North Texas SC. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 6:00 p.m. Because of FC Tucson’s recent bye week, both teams come into the match having last played Forward Madison FC.
Last Week, FC Tucson fell to the Flamingos, 2-1, on the road. The hosts jumped out to a 2-0 lead and held on to that for most of the match until defender Kyle Venter registered his second goal of the season in the 90th minute off of an assist from Erik Virgen.
North Texas SC also had trouble at in Madison, falling to Forward Madison 4-1 last Saturday. Ronaldo Damus scored the opening goal of the match to give North Texas an early lead in the 15th minute before the club surrendered four unanswered goals. It was just the team’s second loss of the season and the club sits at second on the table with 23 points.
Despite it being 968 miles between Tucson, Ariz., and Frisco, Tex., it will be the club’s shortest road trip of the season. North Texas SC is undefeated at home this season, going 5-0-0.
Fair Play
Tucson remains one of the least carded clubs in the USL League One. With just 14 yellow cards and zero reds, FCT ranks last in the league in both categories.
Department of Defense
In the last two matches, FCT recorded 28 tackles and 26 interceptions. José Terrón currently leads the club with 30 tackles and 14 interceptions.
The Marathon Continues…
This trip marks the third of nine road trips from June to August. Tucson gets a brief respite from the road on July 3rd, when the club takes on Toronto FC II at Kino North Stadium. But after that match, FCT will have six consecutive road matches.
