Carlos Merancio didn’t let rain or a lightning delay throw him off his game Saturday, as he faced the highest league expected goals in Week 15 against Northern Colorado Hailstorm.
The 23-year-old from Hermosillo, Mexico, recorded a season-high six saves – including several sprawling and diving stops – to preserve a 1-1 tie at Kino North Stadium.
Merancio’s efforts were recognized Monday as he was named to the USL League One Team of the Week.
