Arizona ODP Boys Director and US Soccer Scout joins John Galas as Assistant Coach
TUCSON, Ariz. (Feb. 15, 2021) — FC Tucson Head Coach John Galas announced today that he has named Mark Biagi as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming USL League One season.
“Mark has proven to be such an asset for our club. His passion for the game, knowledge, and professionalism are all top class. He has been instrumental in helping us build the 2021 roster, and I am looking forward to working with him this season,” said John Galas. “He has a keen eye when it comes to player identification and has the ability and skill set to maximize that talent on the field through his coaching. I am thrilled to have Mark, his wife Amanda and his family be a part of our club again this year.”
Biagi, 36, most recently served as FC Tucson’s Player Analyst during the 2020 season. His responsibilities included player identification and player performance optimization. Biagi currently runs the Vail Soccer Club in Southeast Tucson and serves as a US Soccer Talent ID Scout, Boys Director for Arizona Olympic Development Program (ODP), and West Region ODP Head Coach. The Northern California native holds a USSF “B” License.
“I am very thankful to John Galas and Amanda Powers for this amazing opportunity. Having lived in Tucson for over 20 years, I am excited to be part of this team and can’t wait to get on the field and give my all for this great city,” said Mark Biagi.
Born in California, Biagi moved to Europe at a young age and played for local teams throughout Germany and Spain before moving to Tucson and turning to coaching. Biagi first-served FC Tucson leading up to the club’s 2014 Desert Diamond Cup campaign, assisting then Head Coach Rick Shantz with training duties along with camp and tryouts events.
